Red tail cover refurbishing
Hello all. Wondering if anyone has had any luck restoring (polish or paint?) the red cover tail accessory. I have a 2001 V12.

Re: Red tail cover refurbishing
Instead of refinishing the old lense, I added a nice LED strip for extra running light & one for brake lights. About $20 (Ebay) and much more brighter visible.

I like what you did! The lower red brake light cover needs help on my bike. What did you replace the red cover with? It looks good. Also, did you make the chrome fender accent/tip on the rear?

Re: Red tail cover refurbishing
I left the lense alone. Same color as my bike. it's a 03. The lower led strip is mounted by Velcro. I used the outdoor Velcro and it hasn't had any problems in years. Good stuff. I can easily remove it if needed
The fender extension was made by Kaw. I bought all the voyager accessories when they were still available

Hey Lumpy, long story short Kawasaki started painting those lights the base color of the bike (changes by year) to avoid legal actions. The paint can be removed from the lower light lenses fairly easily and the light buckets should be in there if you want to wire it with sockets. Or just add a light like Voyager55 & some others have done.

Great ideas! Thanks. Refurbishing nearly complete. Hope to have some pics of the Kawi in a day or so.

That's what I did...removed the paint and put a socket and bulb in it.Scott-(Altoona, PA) wrote:Hey Lumpy, long story short Kawasaki started painting those lights the base color of the bike (changes by year) to avoid legal actions.
