RATZ!@ cloud of antifreeze steam????
I just pulled into my garage after a morning's run. Temp gauge about the middle of the dial or lower.
I heard a soft POP and then the cloud of steam. Shut the engine down and less than a 1/4 cup of antifreeze is on the garage floor. I can see some liquid on one of the lower radiator hoses, but not much.
I am 'assuming' that I'll now need to yank the fairing and find out which hose blew?
I've watched the youtube vid of the windshield/fairing removal so it doesn't appear to be too daunting. But DANG!, I'd rather be ridin' than wrenchin'.
Any advice from the collectiv?
Thanks

Re: RATZ!@ cloud of antifreeze steam????
Checking the Tech Center I found a few part numbers for auto hoses that will adapt to the Voyager?
Dayco B712160
Dayco B71293
Napa 10076 hose cut to length
Should these work for the job assuming it is the cyinder head hose that blew?

Might as well consider changing all of the hoses now while you are doing one. If one hose is bad, others can't be far behind.

Yes, you are in there change them. I went through that on a YZ 250 once.Had one blow, others followed

Re: RATZ!@ cloud of antifreeze steam????
It was the short hose at the bottom of the radiator that blew. While I was in there I also replaced the one next to it going into the manifold of the engine. That one was a REAL PIA to replace. Adding to the 'fun' whoever was in there before me placed the screws to the clamps where they were near impossible to reach.
Lots of antifreeze was spilled including while refilling the system, so there is still a lot of steam on the warmed up engine. I rinsed everything with a gallon of water so I'll find out tomorrow if there are any leaks.
Hope springs eternal. I only needed to remove the left & right lower fairing and the front plastic trim piece around the radiator.

Re: RATZ!@ cloud of antifreeze steam????
I read a past posting from someone who experienced the same scenario - just pulled into the garage when the hose let go. I guess the gods of maintenance sometimes let us get home before biting our butt. This fix would have been a real mess had it happened earlier for me.

I brought the engine up to full operating temp this morning and am happy to report no visible leaks, no 'steaming'.
