Motorcycling is mighty thirsty work and I always add a cup holder to my rides.
I bought the Barefoot Willies black plastic unit for 1" bars and it fits very well. My mod? I slit the foam insulation cozy as shown in the pic. Now my travel coffee mug fits slightly snugly yet removes easily on the road.
Remove the foam and store it and now the holder fits a Big Gulp size beverage (plastic or styro cup)
One caveat - you will need to loosen one phillips mounting screw and rotate the holder out of the way to take off the faux tank cover, not a big deal.

Re: Cup Holder Mod
Not wanting to cut up the coozy I bought one of the thinner neoprene coozys for my travel mug. Not a tight fit in my Barefoot Willies holder but does the job of keeping my cup from rattling around and my coffee handy! (Guess where I bought the coozy!!)
