Got a tech tip for Voyager 12's from your personal experiences, or one complete with pictures and instructions, here's where to post it. You can also ask about tips or procedures here.
I am not a big fan of the highway pegs that came on my bike so I changed them out for a pair of Emgo units I picked up several years ago at JC Whitney on one of my many rides out to Starved Rock in Utica, IL. They mount to my engines guards at the same location as the pegs. Much more comfortable for my hooves - lol
I have the kawy floor boards as well as Emgo boards on the engine case guards. That allows me to move my feet all over the place during a ride. Sometimes I have toes on the Emgos and heels on the floor boards. Great combination for long rides........Gator Mike

In some of the pictures they do look a little big, they are not. I have them, you can adjust them up or down and at several angles. I can put my heel on the stock pegs and my toe on the bottom of these, put your hole foot on them or, I removed the bottom wiglets on the faring, you can slide to one side a little and stretch your leg out straight and lay it on top if you want to. Mine are mounted just like in the pictures, IF you drag the ground with these, Houston we have a problem!!!
I understand that the sides of those foot pads are the shorter than the previous pegs mounted on the guards but that is not going to be the first part that touches ground if you lean a lot. It will be the bottom corners of the foot pads. You might have issues with them the first time they touch pavement.
Fortunately they fold up pretty easily, but I understand your concern. I've taken some pretty well leaned over turns so far and it has not proven to be an issue but I suppose anything is possible.
My footrests are decent, but I have to put those on my Christmas wish list.

I've used a couple pairs of these Emgo units, on two different bikes. Not only are they big enough (but not huge) to move your feet around a bit, but they are heavy gauge aluminum, and very affordable (typically less than $60 + S/H). They're basic, but decent qualtiy. The only caveat to them, is that the bolts will rust, over time. The rest of the assembly is aluminum, and rubber for the pads. Only the bolts are made with iron. I'd buy them again, without question. Cheers!
Chicagorandy, what's the item number for them? I've searched JCWhitney but can't find them and I know I've seen them before. Entertained the thought many times but money has always been a factor. Like SgtSlag said maybe for Christmas.

I know I got them and the chrome mounts from JC Whitney but they were not shown on the inventory last week when I was out at their outlet store in LaSalle, IL.
JC Whitney stopped carrying them a few years ago, I thought. The listing for Amazon is the exact same model I have, but their price is equal to, or lower, than what I've paid JC Whitney in the past... Like I said, they're basic, but solidly built. Just put some anti-sieze on the screw threads when you mount them, to avoid rusting in place. Also, I would suggest cutting up an old inner-tube from a bicycle, and layering some rubber between the clamps and the engine guard bars: will hold them securely in place, without scratching the chrome tubes. Cheers!
