Hm, for some reason, my previous post didn't take. Anyhoo....
Ok, got the rear wheel off, what a PITA! Hopefully getting the DS tire on today. Anyone have any good tips for getting the wheel back on? The brake seems to be the biggest issue, there wasn't much slack in the hose.
Also, what kind of coolant is recommended? Figure that's the next thing befor any major riding. I already have oil and rear end grase. Probably ought to swap the brake/clutch fluid as well, but one thing at a time.

For the rear tire remove the brake caliper bracket and just use a piece of mechanics wire to the caliper up. I wired mine to the passenger hand rail to keep it up and out of the way. Remove the rear footrest to lower the exhaust a few inches and that should help clear a lot of the obstacles in your way.

I've removed my rear wheel only two or three times but I don't remember the rear brake caliper being a problem. I think I just let it hang.
As for antifreeze, anything that is OK for aluminum engines will work, which today is just about any. I use Prestone and it says "safe for all engines" on the jug. Just to be sure I called their 800 number and they confirmed, yes, safe for aluminum engines.

Some use mounting paste, others have used KY Jelly, while others take advantage of the sun and let it set in the sun warming up. I would suggest if you are doing yourself put a ratchet strap around the tread surface area and crank it tight, that will expand the sidewalls making it easier to fill the tire. If its just a section of the bead not seating then just give it time!

I put Nexen on last spring. I used dissolving hand cleaner and a little time in the sun. Let it sit out on a black top driveway for about 20 minutes and let air out and the reinflated to just about 55lbs. Did that cycle twice and it seated. Was just one stubborn section. When the bead did seat it snapped in hard, almost sounded like setting the bead on a racing tire. It has been 5 months and several thousand miles and was worth the time and effort for sure.

Tried the KY Jelly, Tire paste. Hot sun to, still won't seat. Just a small area where it won't seat.
Brought it to the tire shop I bought it at, They couldn't get it to seat either. I gave up.

I've heard that a few actually sanded and buffed the hump of the wheel to smooth it out a bit so it seated easier. I had a Big-O tire shop set mine.

I've read in a few places that for some reason, the 15" bike rims and tires are 1/16 - 1/8 different than car tires. No one seems to have this issue with 16 - 17" tires. I never have with the others I've used. A couple people have sanded the bead of the tire to get it to fit.
