Defeat Turn Signal Auto Cancel

Post by bamboozer »

I'd like to go to manual on/off for the turn signals, 4 seconds is far too little. Over the years I've noticed flashing lights get their attention and wake 'em up better than anything else, I like to keep the signal flashing until my turn is completed or if waiting to turn. Is there a non invasive way to do this?

check out this post for an option, or just unplug it. As you can see from the date of that post it has been a while since I did this and to this day it has not failed.

Well you cant be shy of removing some plastic. Look at my post and you will see what needs to be removed and where it at. Kevin Wanner makes a nice unit with a matching plug to increase the distance it will stay on, or just unplug it once you get to it.

Manual shows the turn signal relay as right next to the battery, the control unit as much farther in there. I'll try disconnecting the relay, if it doesn't work it's on to the control unit. Much preferred the bikes of the past with manual control of the turn signals.

I 'think' that disconnecting the relay will stop the signals from working completely?

On that being a 1986 with no cruse control you might be able to get to it by removing the turn signal light in the fairing on the left side of the bike as you sit on it.
There are 2 boxes the thicker one is the reserve lighting device the thinner one is the turn signal control.
If I remember correctly that bike had the one box mounted on the inner plastic for some reason I don't remember witch one.
