dunlop elite 3 cupping
Just removed the rear wheel as i'm going to change the rotor and tire. My question is ... why has my rear tire cupped. The drive side is worst than the right side. I have almost 40,000 kms and i still lots of rubber except were the cupping is occurring. Any idea what is going on. As usual.. thanks

Re: dunlop elite 3 cupping
The crown of the road,at least where I live, means the bike is not perpendicular to the road. With the bike straight up,the road is leaning slightly to the right for water drainage. This means the tire is carrying more of the weight on its left side, wearing it out faster.

Re: dunlop elite 3 cupping
Most cupping problems are related to not enough air in the tires. A minimum of 40 lbs. seem to work best, but some use a few more depending on weight. Bad wheel or swing arm bearing (which also might need adjusted in the case of swing arm bearing) may also contribute to this.

Re: dunlop elite 3 cupping
I keep my tires at 36 lbs front and 40 lbs rear. I have progressives front and rear and I believe that the increased harshness of the ride would only get worse if the tires were any harder. As it is I can feel every imperfection in the road and we have plenty in Louisiana.

Re: dunlop elite 3 cupping
I swapped out my Progressive front with Race tech and that improved the ride a lot
