zg1200a1 time for rebuild

I hope some of you can help
I am in dire need. My wife inherited a 1986 zg1200a1 with 60+ on the odometer. It was her Fathers bike when she was 10 he passed away and gave the bike to her aunt long story short 20 years later I found that bike and drove 1200 miles and picked it up. the bike runs great and was well taken care of however it leaks from everywhere.
I am having the toughest time finding a full rebuild kit or gasket kit for the 86 a1. can anyone help?
has anyone had any luck doing a swap out for a newer style ie B series engine?

Don't panic yet, we will let you know when to panic. Exactly what and where are fluids leaking from. Check out the forums and read up on all the little issues there are on these engines and most important the ignition module number on that years model. 60K is not allot of miles for these engines as long as they have been properly maintained. Your going to like this bike

Gene Thank you so much for getting back to me. I cant find the ignition module number any idea where I can Find it.

the Engine is leaking oil and antifreeze from the underside of the engine. it looks the oil is coming from above the water pump and the antifreeze is coming from somewhere else under the engine.

I am so glad to hear that its lower miles and I already do love the bike although my next purchase is a mustang seat so i can do more that a couple hundred miles

The igniter is located by the battery under the faux gas tank. If you don't see a clear number 1248 you most likely have the old and problematic 1179 that you DO want to spend the big bucks to replace (about $400+).

Check with Carl Leo, he may have one at a reasonable price and he's reliable (he's our XII Guru!) In the meantime, always make sure your battery is fully charged before you try to start you bike. It's batteries with less than full charge that can cause the starter chain to break. You don't want that!

The antifreeze leak is most likely coming from the aluminum water manifold on the front of the engine. There are 4 places where that attaches to the front of the engine. Each connection has an O ring that will leak after an amount of time.

As far as the mustang seat goes, unless you have tried on that was built for the XII, you would probably be better off to get a Russell Day Long seat. I have one of those and they are the best, not cheap, but worth every penny if you plan on putting a lot of miles on in a short time.
