I bought a (basically) new seat from someone who put in on their bike, sat on it and didn't like how it hurt his legs when sitting still (shorter legs than mine) and took it off. Sold it on ebay to me for about half the price of a new one.
Personally, I would like to try a Russell Day Long seat, but for what I paid for this with the included backrest, I can't complain. I have ridden 12hrs on it and the only time it was an issue was when I had to be near Portland, OR by 8pm and I left Ogden UTah that morning. :please:
Yes the seat is hard, but it fits well and rides well in time. If you have the money, find what works best for you. But as I am on a strict budget, for what I paid, I appreciate my Corbin seat. My stock seat was, at best a two hour seat. With "2" pads, it was a 4 to 6 hour seat. After that was not enjoyable riding at all. With the Corbin, last summer, I rode 4500 miles in 2 weeks (actually 3, but with work and family stops, 2 were traveling).
I found a used Corbin for my wife's 97 Vulcan and compared to it's stock seat, she greatly appreciates it also. She loves her bike, but she can't travel the hours on it that I can on the Voyager ('03). Of course the seat no longer is the limitation, more so the wind and vibration (and noise). :corn:
Anyway, that's my observations.
I hope you enjoy whatever you are able to afford. :wnk2:

I have one on mine, it came with the bike. I can't say that I care for the mounting system, but I like the seat. I passed on a VXII a while back as neither of us liked the stock seat that was on it. We haven't had the bike long enough to do 2 up rides (too cold for her just yet) but she did a test sit and seems to like it.

Also, mine's damaged...the cover is trashed, and the driver backrest adjustment doesn't work. I tried to get hold of Corbin to see what they'd charge for a refurbish, but got no answer. A local shop says they can do it for $225. I've used them before, and the do good work, but I don't think they could repair the backrest mechanism.

If you can afford it, a Russel is always preferable.
