Lites on the back of Voyager

Question-----1993 Kawasaki Voyager ----rear lites

When i turn the switch on which lites should be on ?
When I start the bike which lites should be on ?
When I apply the brakes which lites should come on ?

On mine ('97), the two red lights under the trunk come on with the switch,
They stay on when the bike is started and the license plate light comes on as well.
The two trunk lights are also the brake lights and brighten when the brakes are hit.
The only other lights that come when the bike is started are the running lights which are the red lights on the side of the saddlebags.
I have added 3 LED lights to my trunk and a couple of led lights just inside and below the turn signal lights on the rear of the saddlebags for additional lighting as well.
