Missing pan cover bolt

Post by Littlebeaver »

When I was changing the oil I noticed that a bolt was missing, apparently it was a oil pan cover bolt, a 6mm stainless steel bolt.. Thank goodness Ace hardware had one exactly the same,,, I always use this stuff on my bolts, especially the stainless steel bolts going into the engine... I have heard of horror stories about the reaction of materials, aluminum and Steel, but I never concern myself after using this as it acts as a nice barrier between the two materials... Also it will keep it in place.. good stuff... Image

I subscribe to a fellow on YouTube from across the pond (Moonfleet41, Delboy's Garage) and he uses something very similar, Copper Slip. He swears by it for the same reasons.
Check his channel out, lots of "how to's" and "why's" concerning motorcycling. Things that I never entertained, its worth a look.

I'm slowly filling my 5' tool chest I got for my birthday and this will be right beside the dielectric grease and loc-tite!

Yeah I have seen this guys video's, cool dude man....I really enjoy his videos... have you seen the guy that changes his Goldwing front tire and steps all over his rotors..OMG... I about died.. :gig: I have a lot of stuff I can post, changing tires, how to make a tire changing stand, lot's of stuff.. This site will never be the same...LOL I am going to do one of me pulling the wheel bearings soon I hope.. Using a blind bearing puller,
HF tool.. Most of this stuff I have done over at a Goldwing site.... some of it's way out of this world crazy.. If my bolt came out like that someone else's could too,, you guys look around and check them next oil change...

LB, start a channel on YT and post your videos on there then just put links here. There are (amazingly) people who own Voyager XII's that don't visit this forum and they may find your video on YouTube. Even short vids only a few minutes can provide help and assistance to others. Think about it! If you do, let me know what your YT channel name is and I'll subscribe.
