Tank Bag for Voyager XII

Post by SlowRider »

Anyone fitted a removable tank bag (with a large map window on top) to their Voyager XII?

Check "T-bags"website. For a small one and keep the cruise box, that's a tight fit.

Hi,
I installed a removable tank bag as you described. It is a Cor-tech and works well. It fits on the riders side of the cruise box. It is magnetic on the bottom. I epoxied large metal washers on the bottom side of the false cover just where the magnets live in the underside of the bag. Also since I am over kill , I arranged a cord from the bag handle around to the front of the bag on each side. From this cord on each side I made a small bungee that clips to the cord and goes down to the base of the false cover and hooks with some small plastic hooks from an old bungee. To fill up with gas, I just unclip the bungees from the cords and set the bag on the seat with no problems. My son has a 2003 Voyager that I fabricated the same arrange for his Cor-tech tank bag that is not magnetic. This system has worked well for both of us. The bag came with a water resistant cover that doesn't turn much water. We use a walmart bag under the cover to keep contents dry when traveling in the rain. Note also we only use these tank bags when touring longer distances, not on shorter day rides.

Thanks to both you guys for the useful info, but especially to Pasam, who figured out how to mount a tank bag on the V12 fake gas tank without disfiguring anything. Very innovative; that is what I was hoping for (someone smarter than me). That should work for any magnetic mount tank bag that fits the space between the front of the seat and the cruise control box. And it should work for the large T-Bag map case AvidRider 62 mentioned. That looks like a great choice for journeys where a tank bag is not needed.

Thanks Again!

Nelson-Rigg (CL-1025-ST) Black Strap Mount Sport Tank $53 at Amazon currently. Be sure to specify the one with the straps. I bought the same bag for my wife and it is Magnetic, mine uses straps. I generally use mine daily to carry my Ipad and other stuff. I usually throw it into the trunk, but if carrying other stuff, I hook it on the faux cover. They have rain covers and straps for carrying over the shoulder.
A little hassle to fill up, but I just unhook the right side and lay over on the left to fill.
Later,
Ken

One idea was to use the bag over the cruise module by cutting out bottom of bag to fit cruise module inside of bag so you could utilize larger bag. Whatever the mind can come up with !!!

The Cruise Control switches have been what's stopping me. I use the lights (or lack of) to troubleshoot when it refuses to engage -- I am usually only in 4th, or I've forgotten to turn the system on... I miss having a tank bag, as they are tremendously useful on trips for holding water bottles, stowing our gloves, and sunglasses, etc. Been considering a small bag mounted above the dash, behind the windshield. Decisions, decisions... :-? Cheers!
