Looking to replace my radio antenna with a short stubby antenna. Anyone do this?
Wondering if any antenna screws on like the OEM, or is there a special fitting of some type that is needed?

Re: Stubby Radio Antenna
For a while I switched over to a rubber stubby antenna I got at an auto parts store, but the reception was poor so I went back to the OEM buggy whip. It was under $15 and came with various adapters, one of which fit the Voyager antenna base.

Re: Stubby Radio Antenna
Helpful answer, as I was also considering a shorter antenna due to mine constantly loosening up. I suppose I'd best look for a replacement long one instead....

Re: Stubby Radio Antenna
Just be aware that antennas are like tuning forks. They resonate to the frequencies they are cut for. If you modify the length of the existing antenna it will affect performance across that band. Shortened antennas work because they electrically shorten the antenna physically by winding a long antenna, usually by using copper coiling to achieve their length (also known as loading). That shortening will affect the ability of the radio to receive distant stations.

Re: Stubby Radio Antenna
I wanted a shorter antenna so I could mount it up front on the fairing and get rid of that big mast/long cable setup. Couldn't find what I was looking for though.
