Red LED light and stop bar ?

Post by Lance McCaw »

I would like to know what would be a good stop and brake light LED bar for the rear of our 1200s. Does anyone have a picture or 2 they would share. I just want something brighter in addition to my normal old 1157 & 1156. Oh I already tried the led replacements for our 1157 socket and they are not worth the money.

There are a great many to choose from, on e-Bay! Type in the length you want, and that will give you plenty to choose from. The unit I purchased, had hinges at each end, allowing me to aim it up/down, as desired. I drilled a hole for the wires, ran them into the trunk, wired them up, and sealed the hole with RTV Silicone. Be sure to wire the LED bar light into the brake lights, in parallel, not series... This prevents all lights from failing if any one should fail. I mounted mine on the upper half of my trunk, to put it at eye level of most cars following behind. It's been in place now, for over two years, without issue. Cheers!

Been several years, no burnt out bulbs. I think they were like $7 each. Simple LED strip light

I have one on both my Voyagers.
Also if you get the right LED bulbs they are brighter then the regular 1157 bulbs
I think I am using 800 LM and they must be the same color as the lens , Red bulbs behind red lenses.
