2003 Voyager X11

When I start my Voyager it sounds like the engine is getting hit with a hammer when revved up cold. After warm up it looses the banging but still does seem to run good at low revs.

It's not a plow horse it's a race horse and likes to run close to 3000 RPM's.

Yup, you have to remember it's a Ninga 1000 bored out to 1200cc so it's still got lots of top end RPMs available
If you have not already done so change the oil and use 100% synthetic

It should not sound like it's being hit with a hammer when your first start. If you haven't, change the oil to see if that makes a difference. But remember there are two drain plugs to drain the oil and the oil must be drained from both. Change the filter and fill with 3 quarts, 22 oz of oil.

Not sure what your issue is when you say "After warm up it looses the banging but still does seem to run good at low revs." As mentioned, it does like it around 3,000 rpm and higher but I can pull from 1100-1200 rpms in 5th gear without lugging or banging.

It shouldn't be sounding like that. At 1:18 in the video, you can hear one that is ill.

First thing to check would be the oil level. I've heard that if there is too much oil that can cause the lifters to somewhat hydraulically lock which could cause the knocking. Many times some people who are not aware of the second drain plug unintentionally do not drain that one, then just add the amount of oil specified by the manual. Now you have too much oil in the engine. Some dealers will even miss this.
