Re: Voyager XII Pictures
I agree with Lucasind. Awesome picture (bike and scenery). Very stress relieving.
My son and I did a ride up to Lake Erie, PA and it reminded me of that trip. Something about the sound of the surf, smell of the fresh air and on a motorcycle that all mixes well with the soul.

Awesome! I love to hear about deals like that. You will get many miles (smiles) out of it. Reliable motorcycle...joemaniaci wrote:Not bad for a bike I paid $250 for.

Re: Voyager XII Pictures
Well I finally got finished. Just the maintenance on this bike was a lot more than I thought it would be. Motor was in great shape, but everything else was original. All fluids, new rear tire, bearings, rear end lube and hole opened up, fuel filter and fuel pump contacts, brakes, cables lubed, speedometer gears, iridium plugs, it took a while. Now I want waterless antifreeze and just accessories need to be bought a little at a time and installed.
Now just the riding....

Re: Voyager XII Pictures
Welcome David, looks very clean. Keep it out of the sun when not being ridden if you can.
I have an `01 and the red fades, especially on the trunk and saddle bag lids.
Other than the fading I seriously can not complain at all, have had mine for 7+ years now and between the reliability of these bikes and this forum/family everything is good!
We have a local chapter called the Mid-Atlantic Voyagers, next time we get together you'll have to try to join in. Last fall we did a ride in not far from you, in Wellsboro for a weekend and it was outstanding.
Great looking bike and once again, WELCOME!

Re: Voyager XII Pictures
Real pretty. How many miles. my '03 at 40k had the u-joint start shedding it's bearings (inside the dust boot). '00 to '03 (maybe that was '01, Carl can tell you) the supplier didn't put enough grease in the sealed ujoint. Not sure if you can grease it, or if you might want to have one on hand. Other places in the forum addresses that. Great bike, all told.
I pulled my rear speakers before I broke them off, since they are for the rear passenger which i almost never carry. Get tethers on the saddlebag lids (many approaches as to how, again on the forum) before you lose one (no matter how careful, easy to do).
Many of us have upgraded the lights with LED types for better visibility (them seeing us mostly) and the horn (air horn - usually Wolo brand) so they will hear you also (a nice and quiet bike).
That's my 2 cents - Enjoy your new ride,
Ken

Re: Voyager XII Pictures
Thanks guys. I have spent a few hours over the past evenings going through these forums learning about the new bike.
All it needs so far is a front tire ... of course that is not going to stop me from a little "farkleing"...
I have put a tank of gas through it and it got 48 MPG.
Also, this picture is probably the cleanest this bike will ever be ... it will be garaged, but I live on a dirt road so that means EVERY time I ride that I have to go at least a mile in dusty conditions ... and the red really shows the dust.
#Scott: Wellsboro is where I bought the bike from ... 1.5 hours away.

Sweet ride. We also have an 87. We are going to ride to Peoria Labor Day weekend. We live just south of the Quad Cities. You will love this website. So many people help you with anything you want on the bike.broksonic wrote:
