WANTED: rear bag
Hello;
I am looking for one of the Cordura carry bags which mounted on the trunk rack between the speakers.
It was part # K53010-104A and called "Tailbag". Any condition would do, even torn, faded, broken zipper, or missing straps. I am looking for a template to make an exact match new one.
Any leads appreciated,
thanks,
Dave

Re: WANTED: rear bag
I have one that's in excellent shape that I keep my cover in. They have foam liner in em so its kinda like a cooler. I cant send it to you but i could take lots of picture and measurement . When we are not overnight tripping i do use it as a cooler.triton28 wrote:Hello;

Re: WANTED: rear bag
Lance;
thank you for the photos and measurements. That was what I was looking for. Now if I could get one in any condition, I could use it for templates for the component Cordura pieces which would make my upholstery guy very happy.
Thanks again for the photos and measurements,
regards,
Dave Taylor

Re: WANTED: rear bag
That's a tan one, I think most of them were black.
I picked a brand new one up with the speaker covers off of Craigslist about 6 month age.
there fairly hard to find just keep an eye on Ebay and Craigslist they appear once and a while.
Also there is two different styles of that bag, the other style is flat on the bottom and has straps that go under the rack and buckle, I think it was made to also use as a backpack.

Re: WANTED: rear bag
Hello;
I have no idea as to price but I would be willing to buy it if you are interested in selling it. I'm sure some of the more tenured members can provide an idea as to the value of one in good condition.
Or, perhaps I could borrow it sometime when you won't be needing it so I can take it to my upholstery guy as an example of what they are. I would be willing to ensure it's return to you after we visually examine and measure it in a non-destructive manner.
Lance McCaw was kind enough to post some photos and we kind of have a good idea of what to make, but there is nothing quite like having an original to compare to.
I will leave it with you,
Regards,
Dave Taylor

Triton, if you do have some made, I'd sure be interested in buying a couple of them as I'm sure I'm not the only one here who would purchase.

Re: WANTED: rear bag
I have one. It's black with tan piping and embroidery. It's pretty much brand new. I bought it to put on my trunk, but didn't realize that you'd need to have either a ring around the Kawasaki logo that you can loop one of the straps to, or a luggage rack that rolls up along the seat side of the trunk. I ended up tightening the straps down with zip ties to secure it because I didn't want to cut it or modify it in any way, and that worked okay, but I never particularly liked having it there. I bought it brand new last year and it came with the keys and speaker covers. It's got the insulated padding inside which is nice. I used it to carry my larger gloves and other winter gear (balaclava and lighter gloves) for those brutal Florida winters.
I'd be willing to part ways with it. Not sure what it's worth.

Re: WANTED: rear bag
Markus56; I will definitely investigate the cost to manufacture these when I get one for a sample to show my upholstery guy. Once I have a cost I will let you know.
FBT; I would be willing to help you part ways with it. I sent you a PM.
regards,
Dave

Re: WANTED: rear bag
I don't want to influence your dealings but the new bag with keys and speaker covers plus the 2 saddle bag soft luggage I got for $100.00 and had to ride 60 miles to pick them up.
And I think I got a super deal.

Re: WANTED: rear bag
Chevyman;
yes you got a super deal that time. Carl was kind enough to advise me that in 2003 the rear tail bag retailed for $69.95 USD. Mass production by Commercial Sewing Incorporated of Torrington, Connecticut made that price possible.
When I get a price from my upholstery guy, today's labour rates of $60.00/man hour, the cost of Cordura, the zipper, lock and keys, and the thin insulation will make that price an impossible target I'll bet. We'll see.
I am also looking into making some hump guards needed for the forward loops on the bags to mount to.
Regards,
Dave
