Is the radio amplifier 2-channel?

Or is it four channel? I'm assuming it's 2-channel, one for the front and one for the rear. Does anyone also know wattages per channel?

It has 4 channels, front left and right and rear left and right. its rated at 50 watts per channel however I am certain its only about 25watts when running all channels (dont need much more given its only driving small 4" speakers)

Actually, its 2 channel.. The bikes after 1986 had an extra pair of speaker paralleled up on the rear via a "fader" down by the left knee..
The stock speakers are rated at 20 watts RMS at 4 ohms.
The amp is rated at 25 Watts per channel max with 3% distortion at 10 Watts oer channel.
It will drive into 4 ohms or 8 ohm speakers.. it draws 5 amps Max..

If you set up the radio correctly, you should be able to hear it up to 100 with ease..

I kind of figured as much, so it just has one channel up front split for two, and the same in the back. Cool.

No. It's stereo up front . Paralleled on the back. So a genuine left and right front and rear.

4 channel is also know as Quadrophonic or surround sound.
3 channel is known as pseudo surround where the 3rd (rear single speaker) provides the difference between the front two speakers.
2 channel is Stereo..

So to give it a name for the voyager, its double stereo..

Both the left (front and rear) speakers produce the same sound as each other.
Both the right (front and rear) speakers produce their same sound.

Think of a classical orchestra and how they are arranged.
Violins on the left.
Cellos on the right..
If a violin was playing, you will hear it exactly the same on the left front and the left rear speaker.
Similarly, if a cello played on the right front, it will be the same on the right rear.

The Voyager was designed before the days of Quadraphonic stereo in vehicles. Quadraphonic was the new thing in the late seventies for home stereos as I recall. It was billed as 4 Channel.

I was considering putting a 4 channel 50wpc amps on board but scrapped the idea due to too much of a headache. My rear speakers are barley audible compared to the fronts. I turn the fader all the way to the right and barely turn it left and the fronts overpower the rears. Any idea what could be causing this?
I still have to get this radio back to you one day Pete. Dang cassettes quit playing a month after reinstalling it.
