Reconnect Speedometer Cable
Can anyone recommend a manual that will instruct me how to re-connect the speedometer cable? It came off at the instrument panel end. The maintenance manual that I purchased online does not cover this. I have a 1998 Kawi Voyager. Thank you.

Re: Reconnect Speedometer Cable
Start by removing the headlight to gain access to the ferrule that screws onto the back of the speedo. It is pretty cramped and for me I had to renove the left fairing bits to get enough room for my fat fingers to manipulate the thing.
Watch that you don't break the tabs on the upper part of the headlight cover. They need to rotate in their slots to remove it.
Not a difficult job, just fiddly.

...and if for some reason you cannot access the drive location, there is a video on youtube that will show you how to remove and re-attach the entire upper faring. Simple though time consuming thing to do.

Re: Reconnect Speedometer Cable
Glad you are having a blast,Tony. When I serviced my bike this winter,I found out on my first long ride ,I had not tightend my cable .I was able to reconnect it through the headlight assembly and was able to tighten it with my sparkplug cable removal tool, which worked perfect.

Re: Reconnect Speedometer Cable
I drug my cable some 60 miles when mine came out of the connection. Believe it or not it was still usable when I got home, though it was missing some of the outter coating, just a little. I still have it on the bike today over 3 years later!

Also if you need to get more access to the cable end you can remove the left turn signal and get a small hand in there. When putting it on the angle at the end of the cable needs to be in a certain position so you can tighten it correctly so it will stay & remember cable goes on outside of shock. Less bends that way.
