Speedometer not working

In need of assistance please. My speedometer and odometer quit working. I did look to see if it had come loose at either end and it had not. I took the end by the front tire of and turned it and did not move the speedometer. I am assuming it's the speedometer cable bud does anyone have any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.

In order to check cable, you will need to use a drill (in reverse) to spin it fast enough to no if it is the cable. If not that you will need to take the front wheel off and check the speedo cable drive ( I just replaced mine). These can be a bit problematic, would be my best guess as to the problem.

If you take the cable off at the bottom you can pull the inside out of the cover if it doesn't have a sq. end its broken.
They usually brake about 10" in.

Two days after returning home from the rally , my speedometer quit working also ! boy am I glad it waited till we got back to decide to quit ! Had the mirrors and windshield off of the bike for cleaning the 3100 miles of road off of the bike and thought I would pull the head light out and check the top connection...all o.k. there,,,,time to inspect the drive and see what's going on...cable is only a year old and well lubed........................tony
