choke cable return
Should the choke stay on when I let go? Because I wish it would. It snaps right back to off when I let go of the handle.

Re: choke cable return
I removed the spring between carbs 1 and 2. Placed a spring at carb 4 to hold cable. Of the two bikes I have, 03 is perfect, 87, I put the spring on carb 4. Seems to work.

Re: choke cable return
Hey GlockPointer, mine started doing that and eventually it broke. I think it was rusted somewhere inside. I got a new one from Carl Leo who advised I submerge the entire new one in oil for about 30 minutes before installing it. That way it is completely lubricated internally, that was 7 years ago and that same cable is on and still working like new today.
That doesn't mean yours will break but if it does, it's some food for thought!

Re: choke cable return
his choke springs back, it's not sticking anywhere. The OEM spring wants to pull choke off. He's wondering if it would stay put so you wouldn't have to hold it.

Re: choke cable return
For what it's worth, before mine broke it was doing the exact same thing. It never stuck until the day it actually broke, before that I wound engage it and could watch it return to the normal running position within 30 seconds all on its own.
I understand that it isn't frozen or stuck, I was merely providing my personal experience and end results.
It's all good, if it isn't bad and you can fix it by moving a spring or what-not then wonderful.
Like the rest of us I'm sure you will enjoy many miles of happiness from your Voyager!

Re: choke cable return
mine just broke last week. waiting for the new one to come in now. will do the oil bath thing before I install it. nice tip thanks.
for what it'st worth, Mine "90 xii" always stayed where I put it and had to be manually returned. It just started getting harder to move and then it finally gave out.
