Drive line question

Hello all I have a question about the drive line on my 99 voyager.
When I have it up on the stand and the rear wheel off the ground there seems to be a lot of play when i move the rear wheel back an forth is this normal how much play ( movement) should there be before you feel it engage? and is there a way to adjust this if it seems to be excessive?
