Can't ride at the moment but have been starting the bike 1999 regularly while it was idling my crazy giant rescue dog got out so I had to get in my car and chase him down. He is harmless but would scare the hell out of you if you saw him running at you.. In my haste I left the bike running.
When I got back it had stalled out and there was a good amount of coolant on the floor.
I let everything cool down and tried to add more coolant but it leaks out almost as fast as I put it in. I have not tried to start it and due to low light in the area cannot tell exactly where the fluid is coming from. Moving the bike around as you know is not that easy so I am asking how to proceed from here, limited funds and more limited mech. ability. Any advice on how to proceed in diagnosing the problem would be most appreciated. I am just hoping there is no serious damage. In the past when idling for awhile you can hear the cooling fan kick in. While I cannot ride now I hope to return to riding after an upcoming surgery. Help Please Thanks for looking

Sounds like a cracked hose or clamp rusted loose. Some will be a challenge to get to.

If you start the bike and warm it up the leak should become apparent as steam will begin coming from where ever the leak is coming from. My advise is if the leak is coming from a split hose then decide right then to replace all of them. If one is old enough to split then others cant be far behind it.

Replacing the hoses is a good idea but getting access to them is the issue after all very limited skill and worse eyesight I have. I would love to just fix the problem and then learn how to winterize it by spring I may be recovered enough from surgery to ride again. I always put some seafoam in it and will try and add it to the oil. That stuff has worked miracles for me over the years.
I am trying to learn about the work I can do for myself, I went 20 years with no bike but now being happily and successfully divorced I had just started to ride when my hip went and needs to be replaced. My last bike was a full out 1100 Yamaha but this thing is so much heavier and harder to move around Despite all this I really do like the bike so this is a slow torture. Also the first time I need to winterize I always rode all winter long. Including commuting into NYC now that took either guts or insanty to ride there in good weather bad weather it is like russian roulette with 3 bullets in the gun. Not even a scratch.
