Paint Job?

Post by broksonic »

Hi all,

Hey i'm just wondering if anyone has recently had a paint job done (fairing, bags, fenders).

Although mine looks good from a distance, up close you can see the paint has some problems, fade and cracking mainly, with a few deep scratches.

So if you did, what kind of prices did you get? And did you strip the parts off your self or did you take the bike in and have them do it?

I painted Team Green in 2013, I did not strip all the paint off mostly just where the strips were.
Then I used a filler primer then the color and clear coat.
you will get $300.00 + in the materials alone
My 1990 I had painted in 2010 by a friend so he probably cut me a brake on the price and that was $1300.00 he did the prep work.

I know this thread has been up for awhile..

I "think" :hmm: I am going to try to "dip" my bike.

Been reading about it and even called them up, http://www.dipyourcar.com, to ask some questions. Nice people and will talk with your for however long you need. (was on with them for about an hour).
They said they never had anyone ask about doing a Voyager XII before, so if I do it they want pictures and a description of how it went.

I figured from their web site I can get all the paint supplies for about $250, plus $156 for their paint sprayer unit.

If I decide to go this way will post pictures and let you know how it comes out. May have to wait till spring as i don't have heat in my garage, but may build a temp paint both if i can squeeze some space for it.
