front brake cruise cancel switch adjustment

I know I read a posting about how to adjust the front cancellation switch. there is supposed to be two distinct clicks when pulling the brake lever. I only hear one unless I push the brake lever out and away. then I hear the second click in both directions but it will not do this on it's own. I'm guessing I found my intermittent cruise problem but how do I adjust this switch?

I have the same thing. I managed to take the switch loose and get a little more out of it and it goes ok now unless I hit a big bump. But just move the brake handle a little too far and it kicks out. So what's the best way?

I think that you loosen the screw holding the switch, push the switch toward the brake lever, and tighten the screw. Others have had luck putting some foam tape on the brake lever where it contacts the switches.

As stated there is no adjustment but to loosen it and move it as best you can.

There is also the possibility that the brake lever pivot bolt is worn and you may need a new one, or if you just clean it and grease it that may help.

The lever pivot bolts are so simple to do and are probably the most neglected maintenance item on any M/C. They can create some very bad problems if not maintained properly. Clutch slippage, which creates, poor shifts, which creates transmission problems, switches not operating properly makes for brakes lights not working, cruise not working, (engage or disengage). Worn out bushing then you may have to replace both lever & bushing!! just a thought...

Doug of fl. You were correct. I pulled the brake lever and cleaned it real good, then, Put some fresh grease on it and worked like a charm. Double clicks all day long. While I was at it, I pulled the clutch lever and cleaned it as well. Then I check the rear switch and it was not adjusted properly either. Cruise worked great on my way to work tonight. Thanks for your help.
