Re: How Many Miles A Day On a Trip Do You Ride??
When I was in my 60's it was 500, then until my middle 70's maybe as many as 350, now that I am almost 80 we are lucky to make 200 to 250 . Regardless how old you are just don't give up and ride as many miles as you can safely enjoy.

Re: How Many Miles A Day On a Trip Do You Ride??
I've only gone on 3 to 4 day excursions, but I can do 6-800 miles interstate driving. Could do a little more I suppose, but I like the break after that. I usually push it getting there and getting back. Also have to think of the passenger.
I do 4-500 most weekends on one of the days. Mostly two lane roads. I try to avoid the touristy destinations because that's where everybody else is at. I'm close enough to Minnesota and Wisconsin I can stay off the beaten path and still get my day's worth.
The downside to my approach is I don't stop to smell the roses or take it all in. It's more mission oriented.

Depending on when I need to be there. If we are in a hurry 400+ miles. If we are enjoying the day, 200-250 miles.

Re: How Many Miles A Day On a Trip Do You Ride??
We've done several 10 day trips 2 up. Generally travel 250 - 350 miles a day. We like to view the sites along the way. Try to stick with secondary roads.

Re: How Many Miles A Day On a Trip Do You Ride??
When we are touring, it varies according to local sites of interest. The more sites we want to visit, the fewer the miles; we've gone as low as 20 miles on some days because we were so busy visiting museums, taking tours of different things in the area. When we are on the first day, or the last, we average 300 miles, or more, depending on how far we need to get. We generally stay below 500, though.
On weekend day-trip's, we can easily go 300+ miles. Those are typical for our day trips. On these, we just want to ride, so we go until we're out of time for the day. Cheers!

Re: How Many Miles A Day On a Trip Do You Ride??
...We tend to be "all fired up" anticipating each trip ! so we plan on a lot of miles the first day,5-600 miles, then a bit less for the second day, less that 400 miles, then even less the third day, by then....ready to get to our destination and get OFF the bike ! Not "fired up " anymore"

Re: How Many Miles A Day On a Trip Do You Ride??
Going to Colorado I did 600 miles on average riding 1 up.
average with 2 up is 500 miles a day.
With stops about every 100 miles to get the blood circulating and top off the tank

Re: How Many Miles A Day On a Trip Do You Ride??
For me it depends on a Group Tour, Trisha & I or Solo.
Group Tour 370 to 400 miles
Trisha & I 400 to 600 miles
Solo just crazy miles
This summer we left Westport, NY and rode through Vermont, Maine and into Canada to Monkton, BC. 600 miles on two lane roads during the 4th of July weekend. Will the last 100 miles were in a heavy rain and the road was freeway.
Once I get to the destination a 200 mile day is a very long day.

Re: How Many Miles A Day On a Trip Do You Ride??
I am just getting back to riding but the good news is that now my wife is accompanying me on the rides. We try to do at least a hundred miles of riding on a weekend. I don't ride when it is raining and since I am now on dialysis I cannot ride distances where I have to spend over night anymore. However when it is nice I do ride it to dialysis. I am grateful just to be able to ride these days!

Mr Jensee
I'm just happy that you're back on the Voyager.
After this last weekend I'm having trouble even riding down to a coffee shop that's 15 miles away. With weather's in the 70's here along the Northern California Coast I should be out riding. I applaud you, for not giving up.

Re: How Many Miles A Day On a Trip Do You Ride??
Well let's see for the most part I ride right around 500 miles in a day, but I have had several 700 ,900 1000, 1200,and one 1500 in one day. Yes I know I'm insane. That's why I ride it's called therapy and I need a lot of it.

Re: How Many Miles A Day On a Trip Do You Ride??
It all depends on where I am riding, with whom I am riding, what I am riding, what type of roads I am riding, and the time of year I am riding.
Some days I do 800 miles and other days I do 150 miles.
Now, time in the saddle could be 14 hours for both of those days.

Re: How Many Miles A Day On a Trip Do You Ride??
On my way to Colarado in June I averaged 600 miles per day. I stopped for gas every 210-220 miles. My longest day in the saddle was going to Rapid City, SD, that was 770 miles. 500-600 miles a day is a good fit for me these days.

You do know,Highway Rider,if you divide 1613 miles by 24 you averaged 67 MPH,which means you were speeding ,somewhere.Highway Rider wrote:Actually it was 1613 miles it was from Reno Nv To Boone Ia

Glad you are able to get out and enjoy the ride again. We should all be grateful every time we throw a leg over the saddle!Mr Jensee wrote:I am just getting back to riding but the good news is that now my wife is accompanying me on the rides. Around 500 miles is a pretty good average for trips that I have done solo. I have never rode strictly interstates and would probably stretch it out a little doing that. With the wife on board, we've done a couple a little better than 450 miles but it wipes her out go that distance and don't think she could hang for several back to back days at that pace.
