Radio Stopped Working

Post by ghostler »

Today, when I was about to return home, my radio stopped working. Tried all the controls nada, zip. After I got home, could faintly hear the radio through the front speakers with a high pitched squeal.

Again I tried all the controls, check the cassette, then checked the intercom cables. Lo and behold, I looked at the front rider's cable end with cover held in place by the clip. Popping off the rubber dust cover, found it full of water. Turned it upside down, and a thimble full flowed out. After shaking all the water out, radio volume returned. Water somehow got in the last time I washed the bike.
You think you've see everything, and then something hits you unexpectedly.:oh:
I'm glad I don't have to mess with any of the electronics, false positive fixed.:gig:

...All's well that ends well ! glad it ended good.
Another reason why I NEVER wash my bike ! other than out on the open road...and get caught in the weather.total down pour.the bike takes a good drenching..that's one thing ! but to do it to your self "on purpose " is another. I "clean" my bike all the time...but I never "wash" it...just sayin :-D

Bug guts are difficult to wash off :thk: , especially after riding through Panhandle Texas with all the crop fields, dairy farms and feed lots along the way. Fairing, mirrors, windshield, chrome guards, radiator, bags, trunk and side of the bike (in cross wind :windy: ) gets loaded with locusts, June bugs, grasshoppers, beetles, gnats, flies, mosquitos, juicey's, and anything else :pig: out there. :corn:
Next time I'll put the cable end down so water doesn't collect. :wnk2:

I don't wash my bikes either. Honda spray polish only. Except after going down 10 mile gravel road up near Hurley, WI this summer. Dust everywhere. No choice but to wash it. Sometimes you have no choice.

Lemon Pledge is bike wash in a can. Great for plastics and windshield. Makes the whole bike pop :perfect10:
