For those who haven't seen this view of a Voyager muffler, this is a LH muffler I was scrapping so I cut it open to show the connection. It had been sitting within 9 inches of the turf for a long time. The lower, (inner), tip rusted pipe is just welded to the side of the upper, (outer), tip rusted pipe without any connection between the 2 pipes, which we all knew anyway.
Oddly enough, the RH muffler was OK because the lean of the side stand kept it higher away from the turf.
Don't let the bike sit on turf for years!

Nice Pic.. always wanted to see how it differed from the '86 straight thru..
I have some pretty rare after market muffler turn down tips on my '86 which make it look like an 87 onwards except both holes are functional and slightly bigger than the 87 on.. plus it has a slightly lower note...
