Additional tail/brake light
Good morning Gentlemen, I have learned that you can make an additional tail/brake light in between the saddle bags along the bottom of fender. The lense is there with a coating of paint on the inside that needs to be removed. A housing is there that you mount your 1157 electrical sockets to. I am looking for tips for doing this by someone who already has. What sockets work best and where to purchase them? Where is the best place to wire into the system? How did you remove the paint off the inside of the lense? What about 1157 led bulbs? And any other tips. Please and thank you. Have a great day guys. Come on Spring!!!

Re: Additional tail/brake light
I would suggest adding a "Third Brake Light" LED bar assembly to the lid of the trunk: it will be about eye-level for most cars behind you; inexpensive, easy to install, can be aimed, etc. They're available from e-Bay for less than $15, typically. It can be wired in parallel with the OEM brake lights, already in the trunk. The LED's will draw minimal current, as well, so they won't put much of a load on the anemic OEM alternator. Add in a brake light modulator to flash all of your brake lights, and you have about as much visibility as is humanly/legally possible. Cheers!

I think he's talking about on the bottom. Mine was already done. So I can't help with how, but here's a pic.

Re: Additional tail/brake light
Yes what Randallar posted is what I want to do. I am thinking of using 1157 led bulbs down there. Thank you for your help gentlemen.

Re: Additional tail/brake light
Use 1157 if you want this to be tail/brake lights. they have the twin filiment. If all you want to do is make this an extra tail light, you only need to use an 1156 bulb and socket.
