Oil in rear shocks
Anybody remember how much oil we're supposed to put back in the shocks when changing out the 'fish oil'?

Re: Oil in rear shocks
Have you experienced what happens when you get rid of the 'fish oil' and put in real fork-shock oil?
Did this with my 2001 and installed progessives on a friends 2002 some time ago. Both about the same mileage.
Couldn't tell the difference.

Re: Oil in rear shocks
I just got my first ride of the season ,and also the first ride since I did "winter service".This time I put synthetic 5w30 oil in the forks and shocks, instead of fork oil.I noticed as much improvement over the fork oil in the shocks, as I did over the original shock oil 25000 miles ago.

Re: Oil in rear shocks
I guess I'm going to have to drop my trunk in order to remove my rear shocks, unless I'm missing something. Let me know if there is another way.

Yes,Ohio Jack,I did have to remove my trunk to get the shocks off.If you have a service manual,it shows how to do it,and it is not hard.

Thanks, Loren: I'll work on the bike after it gets cold again. I'll be going on a ride today.

Re: Oil in rear shocks
I just changed my fork oil and put a new Michelin commander II on the front Sat.
then went and put 100 miles on the bike .
Anyway, I have the Race Tech springs and cartridges and I use DEX III ATF in the forks.
I pull the tubes and flush them out with mineral spirits to get all the old black oil out.
The hole job with the tire mounted and balanced 2 hr.
