Brake lights stuck on

Post by sillybiscuit »

Hello AVA...I have a 2002 and my brake lights are stuck on. Bike was fine when I stored it 2 months ago. Is there a relay or switch that might have gone bad that would cause that? both brake levers are disengaged. I did take the saddlebags off to replace the shocks but plugged them back in the way they were. Any suggestions would be helpful as I am new to the Voyager.....Thanks in advance and ride safe

I would check to make sure you did not reverse the running lights and the break light wiring when you re assembled things. Another common problem is the micro switch at either the rear break foot leaver or the front break leaver needs cleaning. Use contact cleaner and move them while your spraying.

yes, my guess would be that the micro switches are most likely dirty. I didn't have this issue with my brake lights but did have it with my cruise switches at both the front and rear brake levers. I cleaned everything up and now everything works great.

Thanks guys, It was a combination of the micro switches and a short under the trunk. It was hard to trace because the short was intermittent. At least that's the excuse i'm using :wnk2:
