need electrical help!
1989 voyager and love the bike! While attempting to add a new led brake light I must have shorted something out. No brake light, tach, or fuel gauge now. All the fuses check ok under the faux tank. I'm off to buy a couple relays and would love any guidance with this plz!!!

Nothing but a blown fuse. Elementary my dear Watson.....No story hereLucasind wrote:Do tell the details !
But Tony I did today solve another case of the spidery crack in the front fender mystery and sold another set of stainless steel inserts.

Re: need electrical help!
That's what I figured, but I read in "K mart's" initial post ...that "all fuses checked good" is the reason I asked what else might have been found.
ok..... go ahead with the story on solving the spider crack front fender story, is there something new, ?or the overly crushed fender inserts once again ?................................Tony

Re: need electrical help!
Tony, No real story here either, just another case of the crushed down inserts.
Hasn't been any really challenging things happening. Still waiting to pick up that MC lift, but when I do I am ready to sink it into the floor. I have all the lumber to frame and the concrete in house. Now I just need to get my bike done and out on the road as the weather here is now MC friendly. That is, If I find that I can hold it up. Bench work is all that I have been able to do, going on 8 weeks with this bum leg, but did get a full day on my feet yesterday. The only challenging thing I did was to fix our dish washer. May stand at the lathe and make some inserts today, I don't make a dime off of these, Partzilla sells these for 4.23 each. I may just start asking the retail price of 6.75 each, since they are stainless and with a larger wall thickness. Short of buying a cnc lathe for 10grand its hard to compete against mass production. And I have been getting requests for these. I need that lift here and some more electrical nightmare bike work.....

Re: need electrical help!
So I'm now a proud member of the AVA! Had to give the wife a Xanax when she saw the bike disassembled over the blown fuse! All is good now with electrical tho. Now I'm noticing a leak from the left front fork and it's time to be progressive! I thought I read somewhere about a video of Carl Leo taking the forks out but for the life of me can't find it. Ugh! I did try a homemade sealmate with no success. Being a fireman I know how to tear stuff up, can a shade tree mechanic do the front end work? I've got the springs in my Amazon shopping cart as I type. Any help would be much appreciated. I ride with a Catholic group called the Knights on Bikes and our next outing is April 2. On another note Just responded to a crotchrocket hitting the side of a mini van as he was being pursued by a motorcycle cop. Went thru the side window of the van and almost came out the other side! He's gonna survive but wiping his butt with his left arm for a LONG time! Stay safe guys

Re: need electrical help!
Well Welcome to the AVA, Being that you ride with a group of MC owners there is a good chance of them having some knowledge and hands on support that may assist you in the seal change. There are some tricky points of removal and replacement but with some tech help from them and others here you should be OK.
