Go to the AVA Home Page, select Tech Center, select Voyager XII, and below the red lettered NOTICE...., there is a link to service literature.
You can also find manuals available on eBay from time to time.

Re: Hello I am new to this bike
Go to KZ1300.com and you will find both manuals for your Voyager 1300. Just an easy download of both. They do take a little time to download though, since they give very clear copies!
That's also a very good site to get all the help you need with the 1300 engine. Of course, us Voyager owners are black sheep over there since it is all about the KZ's on that site. There are a few of us ZN owners who lurk over there, so don't be shy!
And, as Dave said, you can find them both on eBay, too! I prefer to have the original paperback version rather than just a downloaded copy. I managed to get both in excellent condition for about $30/each.

Re: Hello I am new to this bike
Probably the worst quirk is that even when new, the Voyager 1300 tended to overheat in slow, summertime stop-n-go conditions where not much air passed over the radiator. The fan will cycle on frequently and does a good job of cooling it down as long as everything is in good condition.Ferroussphinx wrote:Its an 86 voyager

The other thing is what you probably already know, that these are extremely heavy, top heavy machines! But, they ride like you're on a marshmallow riding through clouds! Certainly no crotch-rocket as far as handling!
The 1300's have a clutch that seems to be more sensitive to using the wrong oil than most bikes. The Voyager's clutch is smaller than earlier 1300 engines in the KZ's, so if the oil has the wrong anti-friction additives, it will easily slip in 4th and 5th gears if you roll on the throttle much. You can't simply change the oil. You have to replace the friction discs as well as clean off the steel plates with Lacquer thinner. It's also a good idea to replace the five springs with new ones while you're at it. Just use the right oil and you will never have these problems, though!
How many miles is on your '86? Any immediate issues? LOTS of help available on these pages, although most seem to have the Voyager XII's.

Re: Hello I am new to this bike
Welcome to the wonderful Voyager family Yes,if it is a 1200[4 cylinder] the straight cut gears in the driveline do have a little whine to them, but it is rare for that to be cause for concern.Just spend a little time on this site to check out the many different posts, and the topics they discuss. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.The primary issue I have had with mine, is the ignition switch harness, which you can research on this forum.

Re: Hello I am new to this bike
That's really easy. turn the radio on, go to the station you want to keep, touch the ME button and then the 1 through 4 buttons to keep the station. Hold the set station button at least 3 seconds to lock the channel. The whine may be due to radio filter faltering.Ferroussphinx wrote:Oh I think mines a 1200..and I can't figure out how to set the presets on the radio...also is it supposed to have a whine to it ?

Re: Hello I am new to this bike
Welcome to the forum. I too am new(er) to the bike and I've learned a TON from being on here. From getting manuals to wiring LED lights to replace the standard lights. I've also replaced the fog lights that were on it (looked like a factory addition) to a set of Cree LED lights along with replacing the headlight with a HID conversion. And I can honestly say that even without the LED fog lights, the HID conversion to the low/high beam was VERY well worth the changeout. Especially since I do ride mine a lot in the early morning going to work (5am when it's still dark out).
