I'm a newbie to the site and the bike

I bought my voyager March 1st it had been setting a few years but threw a battery in it and it cranked over. It's rough but complete so I paid the 500 the guy was asking. I took it to my buddy that runs a motorcycle shop and had him rebuild the carbs change the oil and filter an flush the coolant system. Went by today after work and we fired it up an ran it about 20 mind when I noticed a puddle on the floor. Tracked it down to where it was leaking and found the block is cracked on the left side. Which brings me to my question what does a new/used motorcycle cost? Is pulling the pretty straight forward ? Or is the bike worth more in pieces/parts? I'm grateful for any help you can give me

It's not unusual to hear about vxii's with coolant leaks, especially after sitting for long periods of time. I've been following this forum for over 15 years. This is the first time I've heard of one with a cracked block. Is it possible you have a bad diagnosis? There's a water manifold behind the headers and it has 4 "0"rings that tend to leak with age. There's lots of other 0 rings and hoses that are a real pain to replace, but can be done with time & patience.

I'm with Barry ! .... don't give up the ship ! MORE INFO NEEDED, cracked block ? (engine cases)
I am just wondering , do you visually SEE a big ol' crack in the cases ? or is it just leaking fluids
(coolant or engine oil) from somewhere of undetermined origin ? please give more details ...or post some pictures ,so we can be of more help .

Unless this sat in the freezing temps up north with no anti-freeze, I find it hard to believe it cracked. Had a guy thinking his head gasket was blown and ready to trash it, turned out to be an upper hose leaking and weeping out the spark plug drain hole . Do look it over closer before condemning the engine. Take the lower cowl plastic off and give a look see. 20 minuets of just sitting at idle is not good for it, they will overheat. And if someone put a plastic tie on the coolant recovery hose it will begin to leak at the fill neck where that hose is connected. Could be some bad hose somewhere . But if you find it needs an engine, just ask around here, many here have more parts for these bikes than you can imagine.

I agree with these replys,,,,You very seldom hear of a cracked 1200 engine,,,,hopefully it is just leaking a hose or o ring,,,in the meantime welcome to the AVA,,from Minnesota

Don't mistake a casting line for a crack. A leak out of a spark plug drain will look like its a cracked block at the casting line.

As your sitting on the bike the crack is on the left hand side. Starts a couple inches below the jugs and a couple inches in from the corner of the motor and follows the contours of the block casting its a crack I can visually see it. I get take a couple pictures and post them on here. I appreciate any help/ advice I can get thanks a lot

Carl Leo would be the best person to talk to, but I would say you are headed for an engine swap after looking at the photos.
