Rain sleet and Hail!!

Post by Ferroussphinx »

Easter was good...I live in Fort Wayne Indiana and my family lived in New castle

Well the weather for me and my 8 year old going Down was great ...in fact the bike only acted up ..in a manner of Speaking one time with the temp gauge...its a 112 miles Down plus various riding in town.
The bike performance was excellent smooth ride in mild wind

On the way back up ..the ride was still good but a half mile away me and my boy had to pull off the side of the road thankfully enough his mom my ex was dropping her daughter off and pulled over and took our boy on home !!

So that leaves me and the bike lol well 60 mph gusts and the interstate wasn't working for long

So I took to the back roads and made it home in 4 hours lol
Cheap rain out fit in tatters but ..hey I made it

I am glad you're fine after such an ordeal but pardon me for asking, didn't you check the forecast before you and your kid got on the road on a motorcycle? I know down here they were predicting tornadic activity all throughout the middle of the country well before the weekend.

Yea the rain wasn't supposed to come till later ...
My son was a trooper though. We got about a half mile away from my moms and was about to head back to her place...when my ex pulled up. She to heading back to fort Wayne.

I have ridden through many storms. But never with my kid. He did a great job. I'm super proud of him.

Glad to hear the weather wasn't as bad as our local weather guy predicted. The weather has wreaked havoc this year all over the country.

Up here in Edmonton Canada we hardly had a winter. We had a total of 10" of snow all winter long and the daytime temps have been above freezing more than below. If I had this week off Id be riding already as we are supposed to be 55F for daytime highs right through the early part of April.

2 Springs ago I rode in a 20 mile stretch of hail and rain from Portales to Clovis, NM. Pea to marble size, it pelted my bike hard enough it knocked the Voyager logo emblem insert off my front fender. More intimidating was the nearby lightning strikes. There's no where to duck for refuge (like a gas station, bridge underpass or store) along that stretch of highway.

On the way out to the Colorado rally last summer, we pulled off I- 80 into a truck stop, while taking a good drenching from a terrible storm, and the next few vehicles that pulled in had gotten POUNDED by hail ! Broke every piece of glass ,and dented every body panel on the car, the two ladies sitting in the back seat had broken glass down the backs of their necks/shirts when the back window shattered ! A 18 wheeler pulled in with the windshield shattered (but stayed intact) and was bowed all the way into the cab ! some scary stuff !
boy am I sure glad we missed THAT only by minutes, deciding to pull off the hi-way and wait it out !
I over heard the guy whose car was destroyed... on his cell phone calling his insurance company ,asking if he had hail damage coverage ! :cry2:

I too am from Indiana, Indianapolis. I drive for my job a lot and am very familiar with RT3. I also ride with my son. Hoping to get more time than last year riding. It's weird how you would think your kids would be lot more scared than they are. But most times they take it better than you do.
