Trunk Tail Light Replacement
2001 Kaw 1200 tail lights on trunk, I have been scrolling thru forum and have not been able to find how to get to the trunk lights to replace the bulbs. I removed the two larger bolt at the back of the trunk, thinking that the lens would come off -- it did not PLEASE....HELP !!

On the metal panel in the trunk (see the electrical section in Chapter 15. you can find it in my signature.) there are 2 10mm bolts. Remove them and the entire light panel should come off. There is nothing else holding on. Once it is off look on the bottom for 2 screws to separate the lens from the light assembly. It shouldn't be necessary to remove anything else to access the bulbs. If the panel will not come off easily, the gasket may be old and stuck. Use something to gently pry it off. Careful you don't over do it or you will break the lens.

Make sure you jiggle the light assembly while fitting back onto the trunk, so that you don't put it in a bind while tightening the 4 bolts and end up cracking a lens corner.

Thanks all, I two of the bolts, but as you say there are 4. 2 on top panel and two on the back side. Neither bulb appeared burnt, BUT replaced both anyway.
