That is the same oil we use in our 24.25 liter forage harvester engines, and we have not had any problems due to the oil

I'm about to do my first oil change on my 2002 Voyager and I see here some of you are using oil that us truckers run in our trucks. My concern is motorcycle oil is designed for the bike engines and the wet clutches as well. Is the truck oils really ok for our bikes? Would like to hear from you guys especially any techs or mechanics please.

Been running the synthetic oil for two years in the bike and no issues. Shell rotella 15-w40 is the best. I get no slippage of the clutch.
I used shell T6 5w40 but I found shifting it would sometimes pop back into neutral rather than go into second so I switched to the T 15w40 and its much better.

From a purely technical aspect, the diesel oil is rated for use in automotives, as well: SM or SN rating for gasoline engines. With regards to wet clutches, the offending part is the "Friction Modifiers", added to most automotive oils. The Shell Rotella T oil has zero "Friction Modifiers" added, so it is safe to use with wet clutches. It is quite affordable, at Wal-Mart, for around $12-$13 per gallon. Only use 3 quarts 22 ounces! Be sure to remove both drain plugs, as well as replace the filter each time (filters are cheap, as is Shell oil). Cheers!

I just changed to the inexpensive Rotella after having mobil one synthetic. The synthetic oil made the neutral finder a little less effective but no issues shifting or with clutch. Also, the counter balancer whine was slightly less noticeable,Now that i am running the shell oil the bike shifts real nice, neutral is super easy to find, and i have back the turbine like whine from the engine balancer shafts, not objectionable but definitely a noticeble difference.I installed the superbrace and new fender bushings.Definitely improved high speed stability.less nervous feeling encountering dirty air when closing on and passing high profile vehicles. In my opinion the money was well spent on the superbrace, but its just an opinion.Next to address is the almost non existent rear shock damping.I assume it is sub- standard due to the oil migrating up into the air lines instead of staying put in the shocks.Plus the shock oil looks pretty funky,it leaks a bit out the air fitting when subtracting air with the hand pump.Trying to decide whether to pull them and replace with the progressive rear shocks or deal with draining the oil and refilling with new.I think the new shocks would give me a guaranteed result compared to servicing the old rear shocks.any ideas much appreciated.Rode a few hundred miles last weekend here in NH.Bike week coming to a close.Only saw one voyager last weekend.OURS.

Put a little Seafom in the oil before changing it and put about 100mi on it before changing. It will loosen any gunk stuck in corners and such.
