Rear speaker rubber mounts

Post by Stormryder »

Good morning Gentlemen, I have a 2002 Voyager. After spending the day on the bike yesterday I was putting something in my trunk and discovered that I have a broken speaker mount. The rubber part separated from the metal plate that attaches to the luggage rack. The rubber split, the plate still has rubber on it. So is there an adhesive I could use to glue it back together that could be recommended or is just replacing it the correct fix? If replacement is needed do any of you have a mount in good shape available? Thank you gentlemen.

Years ago I had the same issue. I ended up making a permanent replacement for those mounts using items I found at a local Home Depot. That being said, getting back to your problem, you might try good old contact cement. Make sure both sides of the item have glue on them, after applying let it tack up about 5 min. then press the sides together. let sit for an hour and it should stay glued indefinitely.

Thank you Gentlemen, I'm trying gluing it back together with some industrial adhesive. I'm gonna let it sit a couple days in my vise and then check it out. I might also order new ones from Bike Bandit and just replace them all. Thanks again.

Stormryder, for what it's worth I glued mine about 5 years ago and they're still holding.
