Question about CB

Post by Tonyvdb »

Ok, so I've re installed my CB on the bike. Display works and channels go up and down when I select them. My question is, how do I know it's functioning right?
If I turn the squelch all the way to the right it stops making static and the radio returns but within two clicks of the farthest right position it gives static. Is this correct operation? I do not have a mic or headset for it at this point but wanted to know if at least that part of the system is working.

Without a microphone all you can check is the audio. You say the squelch is working? Do you have it connected to an antenna? Do not key it up without one, you will damage the transceiver. Borrow an SWR meter if you don't already have one. It will tell you if the antenna is matched to the radio for maximum output and allow you to tune it for maximum reception.

Yes, I have the correct whip antenna (the one with the large resister like bump about halfway up) installed and it is connected.

The excess noise is probably due to the fact that your sitting in your driveway with houses all around ,blocking any real reception .

Yes, that's true. My next step is to build an adapter to go to my Sena s10 line input from the bikes 5pin connector
