changing tires for the first time
Hi everyone, I am thinking of going to a michelin commander 2 for my next set of tires but, the only problem is they dont make a 170/70b/17 rear tire size in the commander 2 for my 2012 vulcan voyager1700. Has any one experimented with changing the rear tire size to a 180/65b/16 and if so how is the ride. I am not looking for sport bike cornering but a smooth ride. Does any one ride these tires and are they better that Metzler, or the stock Bridgestone exedra. Has anyone changed the front tire 130/90b/16 to a lower aspect ratio and if so to what? and how is it? Any recommendations :

Re: changing tires for the first time
Yes the 180 size works. I've used the 180 size, the last four times on my Voyager 1700. Yes the Commander II is a good tire. I even tried the 160 size one time and it also worked, just didn't give me the tire mileage that the 180 does. I like the Dunlop American Elite for my 1700 Voyager.

Re: changing tires for the first time
the commanders 180 will work great on your bike,i have 7000 miles on mine right now and they look better than any other tire I have ever used,as far as wear. bridgesone, dunlop, metzler, all wore out for me around 10,000 miles.if you go to a smaller aspect ratio on your front tire, you may experience speedometer error, will register faster than you are really going, being that tire is not as tall, and spins faster than original tire. may also effect abs if you have abs.

Re: changing tires for the first time
thank you for responding I have ordered both tires and await the call from my mechanic
to mount them I did keep the front tire size the same.
