Turn Signal Self Cancel
The bike I recently purchased seems to have a problem with the self cancellation on the turn signals. Sometimes it works great and sometimes it does not. Does not seem to be any real pattern other than it seems worse when it is cold. Is this a common problem? If so is it just a matter of replacing the black box that controls this or is there more to it than that?
Thanks,
Brad
Thanks,

Re: Turn Signal Self Cancel
Most likely a sticky switch, spray some electrical contact cleaner into the switch area and give that a try. Do not use WD40.

Re: Turn Signal Self Cancel
Or you can just start turning off manually and see if that in time clears it up.
How does it feel to the touch when you turn it off, could be just some road grime in the plunger. "Contact cleaner can sometimes wash off all trace of lube and make it worse. " Or it could be a dirty plug or connection point and be an electrical issue.
give it some time....

Re: Turn Signal Self Cancel
I want to mention that WD40 is not kind to plastic. It will in time make it brittle. I suggest if you need to lube the switch after you spray it with electrical contact cleaner use a spray on silicone lubricant.

Thanks guys! I will give that a try. That would make sense since it works some of the time.

Re: Turn Signal Self Cancel
Do you know where on the bike that it is located? I pulled the fake tank off of the machine and I see several of the components but did not see anything that looks like the box that is supposed to be the turn signal cancellation relay.

Re: Turn Signal Self Cancel
I believe it is the one under the left faring just below the speaker. There are two that look alike stacked on top of each other. The top one is the turnsignal cancel unit. It should also be labeled. Click on the link in my signature. Chapter 15 is electrical and the page to view it is 15-27.

Thanks Mr Jensee! Over time I will get to know this machine just as I did my Concours.
