MC lift adapter

I thought these would be of interest to anyone wanting to use a jack with a permanent adapter mounted. The trick is to get the rear lift points under the center stand bracket legs. In fact I still need to cut a small groove for the stand legs, once mounted, as they are lower than the brackets in the photo. The groove only needs to be 8mm wide by 3mm deep, front to rear of course.
I had a plan drawn up and when I find it I will post that as it has all the offset from center-line dimensions and heights, but basically the adapter is a slab of 5/16ths steel fitted between 2" X 2" X 5/16" angles. The stand legs are 2 layers of 5/16th steel high and have a gusset under each side, also of 5/16 steel.


The front uprights are 1-1/4" square tubing with a 2" long section of 1-1/4" schedule 40 pipe which was sliced along the length to form a cradle.


This shows the stand leg brackets resting on the rear outrigged pads. The gussets are just visible at the rear and under the pads.


This one tells it's own story.
Anyhow, when I find that plan I will post it.

Yes thanks Tony I had seen it and I sent a PM to Mr Pepin but never heard back from him so I built my own.
One thing I did was to spacer the slack between the bottom floor rail and the arms that raise up. I found it was too sloppy for my liking, so I added fender washers to the pivot bolts. Now at least the pedestal is a little more stable. Mind you the whole thing is very unstable in my opinion, but used carefully for what it is, only a jack and not an air/hydraulic lift table, it is fine on a temporary basis.

I'm hoping to find an adapter to work with Harbor Freight's High Position Motorcycle Lift. Being able to raise the bike 30" would be fantastic, for nearly all maintenance needs, especially tire and oil changes. Cheers!

I see this is a few months old, yet I have a question. Harbor Freight will be having the "parking lot" sale in March and has this different motorcycle lift (#68892). Has anyone used one of these? The specs of this lift cover the voyager size/weight specs. The reviews were all positive thru the 70 I read. Comments also...

Someone posted some adapters which fit the HF High Position M/C Lift, found on Amazon.com (maybe you saw this, maybe you didn't...). Anyway, I ordered a set, and I am waiting for them to arrive. They are expensive, costing about as much as the lift, itself, but my lift has sat, unused, for nearly two years...

The HF High Position M/C Lift has distinct advantages over the Motorcycle Lift you posted: the High Position M/C Lift supports the bike using two arms, beneath the engine, leaving both wheels free to remove -- the wheels do not support the bike while on the High Position Lift. I will be posting some photo's of the adapters being used. While they are expensive, I felt they were a bargain compared to having a machinist build me custom adapters... I hope to receive my adapters by the end of the week, so hopefully I can post photo's, and comments, by Monday, 14 March 2016. Cheers!

Does anyone know if a lift that was modified for a Kawasaki Voyager 1300 would work on the 1200. I have one but was not sure if it would work. thanks for your help!!

It depends on whether the adapter lines up properly. Best option, get down and look to see the points of contact. Make sure the lift won't crush the 1200's exhaust pipes, which are lower than the frame tubes. Sorry I can't give a more direct answer. Cheers!

Tried the adapters listed in a previous post, sold by Redline, sold on Amazon.com, for the HF High Position Motorcycle Lift... They do not work. They cannot extend far enough out, on the arms of the Lift, to avoid the Lift's vertical arm from hitting the driver's foot peg. I tried for more than an hour, to position them properly, but no joy. The quest continues... Cheers!

Ok so thanks for reminding me. The photos I posted, I would not recommend with a fully dressed bike. When I made that adapter the bike was fairly stripped of the rear weight so I did some quick plans for a set of brackets which were sold in motorcycle dealerships.

These were drawn on 1/4" graph paper for the Full Size Radii #s 1 and 2.
A gentleman by the name of Ken Babin made a lift adapter in which the curved supports shown on the front bracket plan were extended down along both sides of the frame rails as far as possible, thereby eliminating the rear bracket I have shown. To do this one would have to construct a channel of plate which when inverted would fit over the 2 arms of the lift. Onto this one could weld vertical 1/4" plate upon which the full length support cups could be welded to.
Ken's version appeared to be the best approach as it only lifted the frame rails. ekap may have more complete plans to post so we'll see if he can find them.
Anyhow, there you go.

ps: tack and trial fit before fully welding 1/8" curved supports and I would be tempted to increase the width of the supports of the rear bracket by 1/4".
