"TRANSFORMER BOARDS"
So this Sunday morning was spent out in the shop, bringing the temp . up to a workable range ...then getting busy on a project that I have been thinking about since the Asheville N.C. rally. Gene and I have been talking about this for quite sometime...there was even some talk about Gene making these pieces in his shop, then trying to figure out at what cost ? to make them available to others ? Here is what I decided to get ,after seeing them on the Goldwing 6 cylinder bikes, only cause I like their simplistic design....and GREAT looks !
http://www.leatherup.com/p/Motorcycle-F ... lid=CPGVkp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Yeah kinda pricey....but what are ya gonna do ? I cant make these in my shop !
So, off comes the rear "stock" floorboards ready to be modified ,to what they need to be,to accept the "wife pleasing " floorboards.
I was gonna load up all of my pieces, and drive to the machine shop and spend a bunch of time, doing what I was able to accomplish in a short period of time ....with a matobo type cut off tool ,and a bench grinder . After looking the job over....OFF comes the mounting posts for the stock floor board pivot pins....here is a look at that :
There in front of the "pivot pin" you see the two mounting posts that had to GO
Next after some "eyeballing" things....and measuring bolt placement...
(cause,remember... ya gotta be able to re-attach it to the bike) the new 3/8 inch holes are drilled.....here is a look at that :
I put a couple of black arrows on the pieces,in case any one else may want to do the update to their bike,,,,,and make the Mrs. very happy, cause being able to relocate your feet,on a cross country ride is important to the passenger ,as well as the driver !
I assembled the pieces, using "red loctite" on the bolts....cause these assemblies can now be taken on and off the bike as a unit from here on out ,and won't ever need to be disassembled (did I just say never ? )
So let's throw em back on da bike and have a look...
Man ...do I like the looks of these ,and added some BLING to the old XII !
Total time spent... (including playing with the wood stove)was about three hours. So...this raps up another work session of improving my XII. thought I would make this post in case any one else might wan't to do the same...............Tony

Let me be the first one to say, great mod Tony. Job well done, anything is possible with money. But you can never put a price on a wife's smiling face. So it seems it was money and time well spent. Gene Kap.

Re: "TRANSFORMER BOARDS"
Thanks for sharing that. I like it a lot.
If I don't have to dump a bunch of money into more mundane things over the winter, I'm going to copy what you did, or at least try.
I looked at an XII this summer that had an extra set of passenger boards (in addition to stock pass. boards) clamped directly to the crash guards in front of the side bags. They looked just like the regular passenger boards all XIIs already have, just in a different place. They were a little higher than the stock boards and I could see where they would have helped the passenger with getting on and off. Anyways, I showed my daughter (the normal passenger) and she thought they would be great. She also mentioned they would be good for moving her feet around. I had not ever seen boards like that on any other XII to that point, and haven't since either. I passed on that particular XII, but I wanted those pieces.

Re: "TRANSFORMER BOARDS"
I have been playing around with the idea of all Kuryakyn boards, pegs and grips. Now I only need to figure out the pegs. Great job!!!
