I have a J+m headset setup for the CB from previous owner, don't want all that
"stuff" in my helmet. I have a 5 pin female connector under "the hood" for connection,
but I'd like to just hook up a hand held mic to make the CB functional for the
very few times I might use it...
Does anyone have an extra? Can anyone tell me what I need to look for to
make that 5 pin female connection work? At this time, again, I just want to
be able to talk and listen if / when needed... Appreciate all thoughts!!! Thanks!

There is an explanation, and a link to a pdf of CB interface wiring, of the functions of each pin at the following website. Perhaps it may be of some assistance.

I have a hand held mic for my CB that I got from J&M years ago. It came with a short DIN extender that plugged into the rider 5 Pin DIN and had a single wire that exited the3 cable that was connected to one of the wire harnesses under the left fairing. I believe this wire is used to signal the Clairon to mute the speakers when the mic transmit button is pushed. It would be simple to fabricate. I just need to see if I still have the installation instructions. The mic is a standard 5 pin used by Most CB's. I start looking. I know there are a few others who have installed this adapter to their Voyagers. I found that my transmit audio was stronger using the handheld mic and listening to the receive via the speakers was also better.

You could also contact J&M and see if they could help you with the schematic for the Voyager XII or if they have any remaining kits hiding on the shelf.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Re: Looking for a hand held mic for Kawasaki Clarion CB
I don't want to spend >hundred bucks for a test... I have the helmet connections stuff... I'll
just use the boom and PTT button for a test, and use the scoot speakers..... I want to
test first... if I get serious, I'll put the helmet boom and speakers in... don't want to mess
with the wires at this time.... I've never had scoot electronics before, never wanted 'um,
not sure I do now... just a test and go from there!!! Thanks for your thoughts!!! I think
I happened across a schematic somewhere.. just not that serious about it...

Re: Looking for a hand held mic for Kawasaki Clarion CB
The 5 pin plug to the headset does not contain the wiring for the PTT switch so you would still have to use the PTT switch on the handlebars unless you created an adapter, which isnt too hard.. Messy but can be done..
