Now thats an assumption. Maybe dad built the big one so he could ride with the kid.

Actually, Bill, you are probably close to the truth! These little stylized trikes for kids have been around on eBay for a long time, in full size, half scale, and all the way down to about 2" long. I suspect the big trike was built to mimic the smaller trike. I do love that old Art Deco styling.
