Re: LED lights
For my headlight, I went with a 55W Bi-Xenon HID 8000k H4 bulb. Got the entire kit for $40.00 on eBay. It comes with an inline relay and the ballast needed. Never had any issues with it and it is SUPER BRIGHT for those night rides.

Re: LED lights
One thing to note, any light that is above 6000k is illegal in many places as the light is far too blue and is actually very bad for your eyes.

Hey SgtSlag,SgtSlag wrote:Here is one which has a braided, flexible, wire mesh for heat sinks, and the price is definitely right: 6000K 40W CREE XM-L2 LED H4/9003/HB2 Car Motorcycle Headlight Bulb w/ Heat Dissipation Belt Kit, $26.99 with free shipping! Will be getting one in the Spring, along with an LED-compatible headlight modulator ($100+!).
...
Where did you find the LED-compatible headlight modulator? I looked around and could only find one company that had one " in the works".
Thanks,

They want your right arm, and your first-born for it, though: $159.95...
AND it may not work with an H4 LED bulb!!! Not sure if this is just a marketing scam to get you to buy their LED headlight, or not. Can't see why their modulator would not work with an LED H4 bulb. Not an engineer, but I am an electronic technician, by trade, and 3.5 years experience reverse-engineeriing component-level repairs. As far as I know, LED's are LED's -- it should work, unless they have some load-sensing circuitry which will fail-to-full-on, as required by federal law. Strange. For that price, I will wait until LED headlights become mainstream, and other companies produce modulators for LED headlights. Sorry to get your hopes up -- mine are completely deflated since I found the details on their site. Cheers!

Re: LED lights
Now the down side. Headlamp light on dash is lit and hi beam indicator appears to be lit dimly unless the brights are on. I plan on living with it, because I like the extra available light more than the annoyance. It was a cheap LED Bulb, are the more expensive ones producing these results also?JTC1 wrote:Added an LED headlight bulb to my '92 last night MAN! what a difference!!
