New Voyager XII owner in Maryland

Post by patzx300 »

Hello everyone from the somewhat stormy state of Maryland. I recently acquired a 1999 Voyager XII that has been sitting for almost 5 years. I know the basics to be covered will be tires, fluids, carb rebuild and new battery oh and a new windscreen. With a jump pack on it all of the electronics work including the radio and it cranks strong but does not start. Some of the chrome pieces are beyond what never dull can clean up so I guess that will be an ebay thing. Ive been lurking on forums trying to find out what to look for in terms of issues and none seem to be very big. I already have LED lights and an HID kit on order as I see electrical power is an issue. Been off the message boards for a while and cant seem to load a pic. Ill figure it out soon enough.

Most of the "issues" you probably will never encounter. When I got my Voyager the first thing I did after coming here was to snip the ty-wrap holding the wiring at the steering stem. The only other issue I have encountered that was bothersome was the auxiliary backup light module that keeps a light burning should one of you hi/lo beams burn out while on the road. Mine still works but the light on the dash won't go out. I have found this machine to be very reliable once I changed out the suspension from air shocks to Progressives all around, it rides like a 500 lb. bike instead of a 700 lb. one. Here's hoping your machine will give you plenty of long years of good service.
