AFTER TRIP/QUESTONS
Hi you guys, we just got back from a trip to Branson, Miss. Great trip, but a couple of questions, advice. Can you install a Corbin seat that is designed for a Voyager 1989 and earlier on a 1998 voyager? Also has anyone installed a set of Goldwing passenger arm rests on a voyager. Sorry Loren and Tony I didn't get with you about fall ride. ohiojack

Re: AFTER TRIP/QUESTONS
Jack, The VXII that I keep in Florida came with a Corbin seat.......What a torture device that seat is ! I would rather have the stock seat over it !

Re: AFTER TRIP/QUESTONS
Here is a link to the GoldWing 1200 arm rests we have on our '93 Voyager: link. They attach to a bolt on the passenger grab bar on the Voyager XII. They rotate forward/back, and in/out, allowing considerable adjustment for the passenger. We love them. I had them mounted on our '79 Honda CB750, as well. I highly recommend them. By the way, they are a new product, not NOS. Worth every penny, on long trips. Cheers!

Regarding the seat, get yourself an Airhawk http://www.revzilla.com/airhawk-seats?g ... fgodgBcOcA
Its the best investment you will ever make for the bike next to Highway pegs and Progressive shocks.

Re: AFTER TRIP/QUESTONS
I have an Airhawk, but for me it is not much of an improvement.
It is not really a big risk to get one because they have a 60 day comfort return policy.
Of course, if you get one and don't really love it be sure to actually send it back in the 60 day window.
The funny thing with seats is there is no really one size fits all solution. Often what people report as seat issues are actually triggered by other factors like seating position, leg position, posture, clothing fit, and all this varies person to person.
Worn out seat foam that ends up being too soft is also an issue on an old seat.
Part of my issues with the seat on my Voyager is that my seating position has the passenger seat all the way back so I sit back far on the seat. The foam at that point is very thing and I found myself hitting the seat pan which was obviously not comfortable. So, the airhawk helped a bit with that.
I did manage to do quite a few riding days over 500 miles and one of 980 miles on my round trip FL to Vegas ride in April. And I was still able to stand and walk around after. But, without frequent stops and taking some aspirin to help with some of the discomfort I probably would not have made it as easily.
With all that, spend a little time figuring out your seating position on the bike and see if there are improvements to help with your position and posture. Sit on the bike like you are riding it and have someone take some pictures from each side. That way it is easier to see if your legs are at an odd angle, you are reaching forward too much, knees higher than hips, etc.
Anyway, good luck!

Re: AFTER TRIP/QUESTONS
scottolds you said two things there that I agree with very much.
There is no single solution that works for everyone. We are all built differently and ride differently. You have to find something that works for you and your riding style and body shape.
Spending time moving the highway pegs and handlebars to different positions to find your happy spot will go much further in fixing comfort issues than throwing money at it. Once you've found the best riding position you can get, then start looking at a new seat or Airhawk devise.

Re: AFTER TRIP/QUESTONS
Thanks for all the responses. I'm fairly comfortable on long trips. I keep thinking a wider seat for me, and a longer seat for my wife would be more comfortable. I took out a 2001 goldwing for a test ride today, and the seating position started to bother me after only 10-15 miles. Taking the bike back tomorrow. I decided to replace my windshield and then have a local seat rebuilder update seats. My wife complained that her backside got wet during a rain storm. It was funny she got wet between the backrest and the passenger seat. The rest of her stayed dry. ohiojack
