Weatherproofing questions
Hello everyone - Getting ready to take the Voyager out on a longer trip, and according to the weatherman might be seeing some rain. Is there anything inparticular to these bikes that I should look out for? Is the radio cover worth installing (have read where people have had them fly off on the highway). Thanks

Re: Weatherproofing questions
I've been caught in light rain and heavy down pours both. For a couple hours of mostly non stop rain and never had any issues.
No radio cover ever while riding too by the way. Didn't get one when I got my Voyager (used).

Re: Weatherproofing questions
I have ridden North to south, east, west across this great country on both my bikes. Ridden thru toential downpours all day long and parked in the wrong place at a hotel in Canada were rain pored off the roof onto my bike all night long. Found this out in the morning. Never a problem from the rain. No radio cover. Have MP3 jack in the front but keep cord plugged in all the time.

Re: Weatherproofing questions
Have to say. I to have ridden in some heavy rain and my bike sets in the lot at work nearly every day and has seen its share of rain. Never an issue.

Re: Weatherproofing questions
TY everyone for the responses. Keep in mind this bike's still pretty new to me, and I'm getting ready to take it out for a 900+ mile ride. Just wanting to make sure I have all bases covered.

Re: Weatherproofing questions
Just make sure you lube the speedometer cable before your trip if the bike is new to you. Wouldn't want to loose that. It controls the cruise.

Re: Weatherproofing questions
Unscrew and disconnect it at the sending unit on the left side of the front wheel. Remove the inner cable and wipe it down. Some soak it in oil. I lube it sparingly with white lithium waterproof grease. I also check it for moisture after long trips that I go thru heavy rain and relube. Then reinsert it and rotate it to align the slot with the speedometer slot. You may have to jack the front wheel to rotate the wheel to get the slot aligned before screwing it in. It can be done without jacking the front wheel just be careful.

Re: Weatherproofing questions
I also recommend greasing the speedo drive unit every time you have the front wheel off the bike.I use a grease needle and pump about 1/2 pump from a grease gun into it.I use a moly grease.
