Re: Found 2002 Xii low miles... but issues
I pulled all the jets, all perfectly clean. So its something else. I come here asking about fuel pump flow now, When I throw the switch it comes out in about 1 second sperts. Should that be right, or should it be a steady flow?

Yes it is a pulse pump,so it will not be steady, but it should fill a quart bottle in about 2 minutes as I said. That would be after the filter.Continue to keep us posted!

Re: Found 2002 Xii low miles... but issues
OK, this is where I am so far... I've replaced the fuel pump, although I can find no difference in the new one and old one. My main two troubles are at this point... where is a picture of where all these vac lines go? I got the cabs out with ease, and I can not for the life of me get them back in... Im so frustrated... I dont know what else to look for, assuming this doesnt fix it, and i have my doubts. Everything "looks" good. I know that doesnt mean it is... but it LOOKS good. Carbs were spotless, fuel pump seemed ok, but I was there, so i replaced it.
I guess step one is where all these lines go. Its been so long since I tore it down I dont remember. I work entirely too much. Then, how in all that is holy do I get these carbs BACK in the hole they came from. They slid right out, very little trouble. NOT going back in.

Your bike is a 2002. You shouldn't need to prime the carburetors before you start it. Check your fuel pump, filter and all lines going to the carbs for any kinks that would impede fuel flow. If this was not a garage kept bike check all the rubber hoses for cracks that could cause a loss of vacuum. What kind of condition are the rubber carb boots between the carbs and engine manifold. If any are loose or cracks are there it will also cause the symptoms you are describing. I have had this happen on old carbureted bikes in the past. I have used some starter fluid once the engine is running to find those leaks. Spot spray small amounts around the boots when the bike is running and if a leak is detected the engine will rev a little. Be careful because that stuff is volatile.

Boots look pretty good. I have sent the carbs out to my local kawasaki shop to get them redone by more skilled people then me. I will update as soon as I get them back...

I commend you but if you had boxed them up and shipped them to Carl Leo in Florida you would have had them back all cleaned and properly sync'ed. I hate to even imagine what that Kawasaki shop is going to charge you. Especially when they haven't seen one of these bikes new in 17 years. Carl won't charge you an arm and a leg either. When you have issues I recommend emailing him at voyagerparts@bellsouth.net and leaving a call back number. Nobody and I mean NOBODY knows the Voyager XII like Carl does.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: Found 2002 Xii low miles... but issues
OK, warmer here, and Ive really been working on it hard. Rebuilt the carbs, replaced the jets, got it back together, and runs FANTASTIC... with issues.
My main concern at this moment is the rear suspension seems to be stuck in the up position. ZERO travel, even when lifted off the floor with bike jack. I've tapped it a few times to see if it moves, pryed on it from the sides, its really STUCK! Suggestions?
Other problem, the little vac line that runs to the left side of the out side carb, if that line is on, the bike will not return to idle as it should. Hovers around 2K for about 30-40 seconds. Remove that line and it runs great. Suggestions on that one?
There is a clicking noise, some times loud from the engine, clutch side. Sounds like its coming from the clutch. Not a good sound...
Last but not least... where is the speakers grounded? My front left and my right rear go out form time to time, and when they do, there is a HUMMMM and spark noise, and some weird sounds coming from them. Can tap any metal surface and it goes away. Its driving me NUTS! I cant find it.
It really is coming together well, and Im so excited to get her out on the road. Headed to town now to get oil and filter for it. Once suspension issues are cleared up, it will be travel time!!!

Re: Found 2002 Xii low miles... but issues
One other question on the rear shocks, do that have to be air shocks? Is there an after-market non air ride I can get for it. Drop in replacement? I had a goldwing once I took the air ride off of, it rode better with regular shocks on it. Thanks again!
